Morning Surprise

Oh, my!!! I can not believe how mad I can possibly get at my children!!!! I Love them, I do, but some time I just wanna.....OOOooooo!!! It's my own fault, I have to say. There are consequences to being a lazy parent, and that is exactly what I was this morning LAZY! I heard Crazy Man and Diva Queen get up this morning, then the baby woke up. My husband got up and let the dog out, while I gave the baby a bottle. My husband turned cartoons on for the kids, then came back to the room with me. After the baby was done with his bottle, we three laid back down and cuddled up. We could hear the children playing and then a few min. later my husband went and checked on them, and they were fine so he came back and cuddled with me for a few more minutes. We should have got up. Oh my wonderful Lord why didn't we get up!!!! Well when we did 15-20 min. LATER, both of them were sporting new haircuts!!! GGggrrrr!!!! The worst part, besides the obvious, is we just got their hair cut LAST week!! And my daughters hair was soooo cute! Everyone was giving her compliments. She had it cut to her chin and fluffed in the back. It was freakin adorable, and now she has choppy bangs and gaps on the side. It's not fixable. She is gonna have to wear a head band for a long time until it grows out enough to fix it :( My son's was not quite as horrible. I was able to salvage his bangs, although it still looks bad since his bangs are soo short, but I really do not want to buzz it off.

So what about you? Any haircut horror stories about the kiddos?

Need Help Finding a Book for DS

So Mr. Independent is 6 1/2 and really wanting to read chapter books. Unlike my daughter, he  attends public school, and unfortunately with that comes influences from others his age. Right now the "it" book is A Diary of a Wimpy Kid. I have not fully read this book, but what snippets I have read, and what I have heard about it, I don't like. From what I understand, it is full of name calling and bulling. While I am very happy at his eagerness to read, I don't think this is appropriate for his age. The language in this book is not even allowed at our house. It's not adult language, but I don't want my kids going around saying "idiot" or "stupid". My children still gasp and cover their mouth when "shut-up" is heard. So I am trying to find some fun alternative to this book. He wants something funny but not "babyish".

So what are your thoughts on A Diary of a Wimpy Kid?

And any suggestions on books would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Tim Hawkins - A Homeschool Family

Another Math Worksheet site

So here is another math site I found. I mostly do 1st grade math stuff with Diva Queen, because most of the kindergarten stuff I have found, she looks at me and practically says "Duh!" LOL!!!

Chill it Mom!!!

This is our first year homeschooling, and I have to watch the work load I give my daughter. For some reason my brains tells me that I have to be able to show someone what we do if they ever ask (there is no law here that we have to keep records), and this tend to lead me to having paper work with about everything we learn. Right now my daughter likes workbooks and worksheet, but they are really for my peace of mind, not for her benifit. *Screams at self*You don't have to have everything on paper!! So I am really trying hard to be more relax. This week has been really pretty  and warm here, so we have been outside. So for the past couple of day we have been skip counting with hopscotch and jump rope!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I know its been a few months since I've been here, but financial issues tend to rise up, so our internet fund go to a more needed area.

I hope everyone had a good Valentines Day!!! We did!! The kids and I through a small V-Day party with cupcakes, candy and punch!! I showed them that it was much more fun to make homemade V-Day cards instead of the store-bought ones, and after an hour or more and a table covered in glitter and glue they very much agreed!! I planned on many activities, but since they had so much fun making V-Day cards, we only accomplished a few. School today was pretty much out, but I did fit in Math!! We used those boxes of conversation hearts to make a graph of the colors, and patterns, and Crazy Man had fun separating the colors! Yay me!!! (and them!!)We also made a butterfly out of hearts. I found this craft at http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/index.htm. It was quick and simple and the kids loved it!! I had planned on Valentine Bingo and a paper weave heart project, oh well maybe tomorrow.

So what, if anything do you do with your homeschool kids?
