TouchMath

So I have been looking for a fun and simple way to help Diva Queen with learning mental math. I have been doing tons of internet searching and came across some message boards that recommended TouchMath, so I looked it up. TouchMath uses "touch points". The number's 1-9 is assigned "touch points" in which the child memorizes to help them do math problems with out using manipulatives or fingers. I showed it to Diva Queen, and did a couple of easy problems with her, and she loved it!! It was so simple, and she was so proud of herself for figuring out the problem and not even using her hands. This is great for visual learners, but I am sure it would work well with any tpye of learner. Of course the website explains it much better than I can. TouchMath.com They have a lot of products to offer, but for what I have found (although I tend to easily over look things) they sell things in sets, geared more toward school districts. So I made my own Touch Cards! So if your interested, check them out!! Just click on the picture and it will take you to an area where you can download the PDF.

So here is another math site I found. I mostly do 1st grade math stuff with Diva Queen, because most of the kindergarten stuff I have found, she looks at me and practically says "Duh!" LOL!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

I know its been a few months since I've been here, but financial issues tend to rise up, so our internet fund go to a more needed area.

I hope everyone had a good Valentines Day!!! We did!! The kids and I through a small V-Day party with cupcakes, candy and punch!! I showed them that it was much more fun to make homemade V-Day cards instead of the store-bought ones, and after an hour or more and a table covered in glitter and glue they very much agreed!! I planned on many activities, but since they had so much fun making V-Day cards, we only accomplished a few. School today was pretty much out, but I did fit in Math!! We used those boxes of conversation hearts to make a graph of the colors, and patterns, and Crazy Man had fun separating the colors! Yay me!!! (and them!!)We also made a butterfly out of hearts. I found this craft at http://www.dltk-holidays.com/valentines/index.htm. It was quick and simple and the kids loved it!! I had planned on Valentine Bingo and a paper weave heart project, oh well maybe tomorrow.

So what, if anything do you do with your homeschool kids?
